Documentary — Island Echoes

Work Package 2 focuses on producing the documentary Island Echoes: Stories of Resilience and Heritage. This film serves as a vivid portrait of cultural identity and environmental challenges across the participating islands. The work package begins with a needs assessment that captures the perspectives of students, teachers, and communities about their heritage and environment.

These findings guide the storyline of the documentary, which highlights traditions, landscapes, climate threats, and intergenerational voices. The filmmaking process involves extensive collaboration between partners through research, planning, interviews, and filming.

The final documentary becomes both an educational resource and a tool for public engagement. It encourages viewers to reflect on cultural preservation, environmental responsibility, and the importance of belonging. Teacher bootcamps and national webinars that accompany this work package ensure that educators are prepared to use the documentary effectively in their schools.

Curriculum for Island Sustainability

Work Package 3 creates a comprehensive curriculum designed specifically for island contexts. This curriculum integrates lessons on cultural heritage, environmental literacy, climate change, sustainable resource management, and resilience.

It supports teachers by offering structured lesson plans, digital materials, and hands-on learning methods that can be used across different grade levels. A major part of this work package is the organization of student survivor camps in each partner country. These outdoor experiences immerse children in their island environments, allowing them to analyze real ecological issues, participate in cultural activities, and strengthen their teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Teachers also take part in workshops and a dedicated bootcamp that develop their confidence and capacity to implement the curriculum. By combining theory, creativity, and outdoor learning, this work package equips schools with a powerful tool for sustainable education.

I Will Survive –
Campaign & Network

Work Package 4 focuses on outreach, communication, and community involvement. It includes a public awareness campaign that highlights the importance of cultural preservation, environmental protection, and youth engagement.

Students participate by writing personal reflections titled “l Will Survive!”, which describe their insights from the outdoor camps and their hopes for the future of their islands. The work package also launches an online S.O.S Forum that connects schools globally, creating a platform where teachers and students from remote islands can exchange ideas, resources, and inspiration.

A major outcome is the establishment of a long-term island school network that promotes collaboration beyond the project’s lifetime. Through creative storytelling, strategic communication, and digital tools, this work package spreads the project’s message to a wide audience.
